See How Shanghai Became the City It Is Today
Shanghai is my home. I grew up on the Puxi side of the river and have watched Pudong change from farmland into the skyline you see today. On this tour, I would like to show you both sides of the city and share what that change has meant to the people who live here.
We can begin along the Bund, where historic waterfront buildings face the towers across the Huangpu River. In Puxi, we might explore the Old City and Yu Garden area or walk through the tree-lined streets of the former French Concession. Across the river, Lujiazui gives you a close-up view of modern Shanghai.
This is an overview, not a race through a checklist. Tell me which parts interest you most, and I will choose a realistic route that leaves time for photographs, questions and a meal or rest when you want one.

The Bund, historic Puxi and modern Pudong are the heart of this experience. The exact stops depend on your interests, the time available and the pace you prefer.
Would you rather spend more time in one part of the city? You can also explore Historic Shanghai – Puxi or Modern Shanghai – Pudong as separate tours.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Planning Your Shanghai Highlights Tour
I will meet you at your hotel or another agreed location in downtown Shanghai. We can walk and use the metro or taxis to move between areas, or arrange a private car with driver if you prefer.
Crossing between Puxi and Pudong takes time, so a full day gives us the most comfortable overview. If you have less time, we can choose fewer stops and focus on what matters most to you. I will help you decide what is realistic before you book.
Yu Garden, museums and observation decks are optional. Their opening hours, tickets and the weather may affect what makes sense on your day. We can still enjoy the contrast between old and new Shanghai without entering a ticketed attraction.
The fee covers my private guiding. Transport, meals, drinks, admission tickets and personal purchases are separate. I will explain the expected additional costs when we agree on your program.
